Opening Ceremony for San Sin-TCC Summer English Program

The Opening Ceremony for the San Sin-TCC Summer English Program was held on Monday, July 2, 2012 in the school auditorium.  Principal Wang Ming-Kuen spoke to all students in attendance, emphasizing the impressive 20-year history of the summer program and the number of students who have benefitted from this cultural exchange.

Dr. O’Kon also addressed the students, stating that it is an honor for the American teachers to be invited to San Sin each year and for them to experience the kindness of the Taiwanese people.  She encouraged them to ask the teachers for help whenever needed.  Then, the American student teachers introduced themselves one by one.

Following the ceremony, all students went to their classrooms for the first lesson on “American Culture.”  They translated and reviewed their new vocabulary words, and practiced oral communication as well. The American student teachers described their first day of teaching as “exciting, fun, and exhilarating,” but it was also exhausting!
